King's Lynn has always been a prosperous town with a strong maritime and industrial tradition. It has been a centre of international trade since the 12th century but over recent years the focus has switched to food processing, advanced engineering and distribution.
The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk is working to create more full time jobs within the town's growth sectors. It is also working to increase the number of business start ups and their survival rates as well as supporting business growth and business retention.
